We're currently in the midst of developing Rove, and while progress has been slower than anticipated, we want to assure you that we're still actively working on it. Building a server of this magnitude has proven to be a complex and time-consuming process, and we've encountered some setbacks along the way. Rest assured, our team is dedicated to bringing you the best possible experience, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to work towards our goal. We know you’ve been waiting for a while and we understand. We want you to know that Rove will be worth the wait, and we are very eager to see you playing.
Everything below is still in heavy development, and so it is all highly subject to change. Some of these can be found in our Discord server.
Below is a screenshot from earlier on in development when testing the mechanics of the zombies. Do note the zombies do not look like this now, they have custom textures. Zombies are able to lunge at you, bite you, crawl and more. The smooth animation and improved AI is something we had to do and we think it looks great. Especially given the fact that this is a server anyone can join with no mods required.
Some of the safe-zones you’ll discover throughout the world will be protected by Auto Turrets. They will kill any hostile survivors or undead creatures on sight. The Auto Turrets are also quite good for defending your bunker from raiders.
In most safe-zones and throughout the world you will encounter friendly (and sometimes hostile) non-playable-characters. Whether you’re completing a task for them or trading for goods, you’ll see them often. Designing the custom GUIs for the NPCs has been no easy task, but we’re making good progress.
Not only are Bandits hostile to other survivors, but they will fight zombies when roaming outside their camp. We think the Bandits and Zombies work together to create just the harsh apocalyptic environment we were aiming for.
Some other things that we don’t have visuals for just yet but are working on currently include a mild temperature system, true custom armor sets, custom weather, and a plethora of weapons.
Thank you for reading. We know this mostly wasn’t anything new but we just want you to know that we haven’t gone anywhere. We appreciate your patience and look forward to getting closer to announcing a release date.
